A New Blog Article about Creative Chakra

LA Oasis

by admin (Hidden Spas) on June 28, 2010

An oasis amidst the chaos of our beloved city, Creative Chakra Spa is nestled in Marina del Rey only steps away from the ocean. Complete tranquility is found there as Creative Chakra takes the spa world to another level. Owner, Sandie West, explains that getting a massage is more than just an hour of getting pampered. It is vital to our health and state of mind to be relaxed and to dismiss negative toxins from our bodies. The natural spa is governed by the ocean breezes, forcing you to feel at one with your surroundings. Creative Chakra is a holistic healing spa, offering an outdoor steam room along with tons of massage treatments all under 100 bucks. For a full day of do-good for your body, a yoga studio is on location for a pre-massage meditative experience.

We fell completely in love with this spa when we discovered their tea room, a custom tea and aromatherapy bar which completed our day of relaxation perfectly.

On the Movie sets doing massage in Hollywood

Wow, so much fun, the last 3 days on the set at Raleigh Studios, I so enjoy being part of business, I was on stand-by to do massage on set for a famous actress/model and it was a wonderful experience.
Travis, came by and shot a short video of me for his very popular facebook page and the catering was so excellent that I came to the realization - we are going into a new decade and I am looking back at the rapid growth that all the people around us have met, sometimes lessons in terms we would rather not face such as basic items as having food and not losing your home, all around us, we have seen these events occur or we have experienced other peoples loss and holding onto our own, keeping strong in the storm of 2009!
I realized this year above all others, the positive we can take is "Excellence prevails", mediocre just leaves out the door, I notice more and more people are excellent wherever I look and the winners of 2009 are those who keep that integrity of excellence in all manners.

Superficial muscles vs Core Muscles

I am just putting my 2011 certification into the frame on the wall from the (NCCPT) National Council of Certified Personal Trainers who I am certified with for the next two years, I have been a trainer and yoga teacher for 10 years. I recently had the luck this last September to do a video with John Platero the founder of NCCPT, I think an extraordinary man. He won 5 gold medals for bicyling this year, and holds up to 12 of them yet he is a personal trainer, looks like one and his father was an olympic champion I believe too.

I believe personally that most people only go to the gym and work the superficial muscles, the big muscle groups that burn energy quickly, after 6 weeks of not working out you lose a lot of that lean muscle which can turn into fat! BUT not that quickly to think what is the point of working out then! The muscle has a memory so the more you work it the better as you get older you can pick right up but if you never do anything then you will never even have muscle memory and you will end up flabby with tired, atrophied muscles. Do you want that, no! You dont. If you build those superficial muscles up quickly ripping and tearing the muscle fibers with large weights you will get big and the food or steroids that you may partake in will get you big - for a short while! It is not so long lasting as working on your core muscles that can lower stress significantly, help with breathing well getting oxygen to the muscles, raising the base metabolism and burning fat. Core workouts like yoga are the definitive answer in my life, also pilates, you can get your cardio going with that if you have the right teacher.

When I teach, I teach with the details, dynamic poses where your meridians are opened and you are breathing into your muscles and opening your whole being. This workout keeps me happy and slim and healthy, I am the most happiest when I am teaching yoga, I enjoy giving and receiving the gifted smiles from our sacred inner healing essence from the pupils I teach. I guide gently with love, this is abundance! My personal verdict is core muscles protect the body as you get older from weakness and you build from the inside out, leaness, especially when you get older with those love handles or beer! You need to work the trunk muscles in the way I am describing, ideally not just yoga, a cross training that is not hard on the body. For years, I was a hamster running on the treadmill at the gym, looking good but no real results until I discovered build good muscle with healthy food and yoga! Love it!

Manifesting your dreams

There are people who say, Sandie, you are a great manifester. I think the greatest thing I ever did in organizing my belief system growing up was that I vowed, I would always be truthful and seek truth and I realized if you say you are going to say a statement to other people, then you have to back it up, it has to be true, you intention has to be behind it. If you say you are doing something, just announce it. It sets the wheels in fast motion, you have to do it. I used to kick my ankle and chastize myself when I first started doing this at the age of nineteen, because I didn't want to be a pretender, a liar, a fool, I didn't want to look stupid. Without fail this method has always helped me to dream and then create an action. By telling other people what you are doing, it puts the thought out into the universe of sound, it allows others minds to build that thought into a strong position in the concrete universe of transactions. Oh, this getting escoterical, don't want to lose ya there! Just truth and action, creates your dreams into reality. That is all! Practical isn't it?

Spirituality and Work and You

I do not go to church, though I wouldn't mind it all and have in the past. I used to go to a gospel church in Venice California and I was the only caucasian and it was bliss...I went to sing my heart out with those who were true in their heart, you could hear it in their voice. I really was blessed to spend some authentic time with people singing the gospel, it soothed my soul, it is not about color ever, it is about being real and it was beautiful, to let go of my inhibitions and sing with those who care about being real and authentic. Again, truly being in the moment. I see no religion, no color, nothing, I see no difference in man or woman, we should all just be striving to connect and see all our similarities, for the great good. I do not think people should just be a certain way because society says they should be. In that way, I really see we should be striving to find the common good in each other, life would not be boring this way (I promise), we have much opportunities in life and our communications with each other to harness our bigger dreams and our goals, lets' lift each other up. I can finish the rest of this thought by saying, you all have god in you, it is the center of your being, your body temple, your inner consciousness, your innate wisdom, your courage, your love, so you can choose to go to church if you want or you can cherish your body and your gifts that he has given you anytime, anyplace or you define, church is a state of being it is not a building therefore you never really have to go anywhere because you are always there.

I mostly pray for thanks to God being grateful. If I have an issue, I don't sit there and pray, I seek guidance from God and I put a thinking cap on and take a walk in nature. I feel I am very different sometimes as I spend more of my private moments with God saying thanks instead of asking for help and forgiveness.. Oh, and I have done that before but this seems to work better!

I started this blog so I can inspire people and hope to shine a light wherever I can.

Creating your dream job that supports your lifestyle

I love to spend time learning and we have lots of speakers here at the spa, look on http://www.spafinder.com/events and you will see, creative chakra spa specializes in this. Education is power, the more you have, the more tools are at your disposal, for instance, I am a Yoga Teacher, Personal Trainer, Massage Therapist and Pilates Teacher and so this is how I created California's Leading Holistic Spa, five and half years ago. Understanding that the more tools you have to help by being dedicated to holistic health and fitness, the more clients will distinguish what you do above others and the unique attention they get is integrated in my beliefs and passed down to those I employ. This creates great client satisfaction.

I really am just doing what I enjoy, I love nature, I love people, I love to have them laugh with me, I love to see them smile, I understand what it is like to be an A type personality and hold tension, I now understand the amazing empowering effect it has on your life and health if you can just let it go; the tension, for a minute..an hour..a day..a month..a year,a lifetime. It is just like taking golf or tennis lessons, remember those? We are training our muscle memory and our minds to let go so we can truly be in the moment with life and then its' details are easy. Therefore we have more time.

Creating a Lifestyle and your dream job!

I am so glad summer is here, I take a half hour sunbathe every day, it is like being on vacation and it takes just a minute to be at the waters edge. It takes all of a minute as it is a wide stretch of sand! People wonder how I can work 7 days a week from 10am-9pm? The answer is I created a lifestyle that works for me, the spa I own and created is steps from the beach and every little area around Creative Chakra http://www.creativechakra.com, is enticing to me! Heck, yes, I know it is for the clients, that is why you have a business but hey when it is so slow, I AM the spa client, I treat myself to facials and mudwraps.

I eat lunch on the lanai or on the ocean porch swing looking at the smooth ripples on the pacific ocean...I would just dream to be able to do this and I am doing this! Once, I took a low paying massage job at a spa just because it was by the ocean (it wasn't this close, I had to roller-blade to it!) and therefore conducive to my lifestyle but I found out..it was not to my pocket! Create and environment for your life, your dreams and your pocket.

I love the morning, I do yoga in the beautiful zen studio or on the oceanfront sometimes with my assistant, sometimes with a coffee (shh, I shouldn't true yogis don't do that yet I do, its' the morning!) and you can bet, our work day rocks after that. Yoga is so centering and the breathing energizes you, really focused day of work and not only that you just keep knocking out each task flowing from one to the next. The best health insurance, for sure, as I don't have any.

If I didn't work for myself, I would have to save up and go to a spa or a yoga studio, not only that, I would have to get in the car and drive there (not green!) and have to take a guilty day off work so yes, this is the dream job and this is only the icing on the cake.

Celebrity Spa Soiree at Creative Chakra Spa with Vibe Holistic and Yoga Month

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

VibeHolistic and Yoga Month Promote Healthy Living to People of Color
Los Angeles –June 18, 2008 – VibeHolistic has teamed up with Yoga Health Foundation to promote healthy living to people of color during Yoga Month 09.2008, an awareness campaign to inspire a healthy and informed lifestyle. A Spa Soiree on June 25th catering to black and Hispanic leaders will launch the partnership.
The Yoga Health Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Los Angeles, has partnered with VibeHolistic in an effort to promote holistic living to people of color during Yoga Month 09.2008. The Yoga Health Foundation stresses health prevention and holistic practices that complement traditional medicine. With this in mind, VibeHolistic, an empowerment company co-founded by two women of color, is taking the message of preventative and holistic living to ethnic communities throughout Los Angeles, Chicago, Miami, and New York.
Founded by Kourtney Ketterhagen and Subhadra Bowman, VibeHolistic’s mission is to provide people of color with knowledge in the areas of yoga and holistic health. Through empowerment events that take place at beauty salons, barber shops, churches, and community centers, VibeHolistic arms attendees with information that can reform eating habits, sedentary behavior, and negative states of mind. Highlighting inexpensive and ubiquitous items and techniques, VibeHolistic demonstrates to people of color simple ways to transform their health and, consequently, their lives.
In celebration of Yoga Month and its 10 City Yoga Health Festival Tour in September, VibeHolistic will set up booths at each of the ten festivals. These booths will highlight healthy and holistic choices widely available within ethnic communities.
In addition, a series of community building events will be hosted by VibeHolistic and the Yoga Health Foundation in an attempt to mobilize people of color to reap the benefits of upcoming Yoga Month activities. A Spa Soiree on June 25th in Marina Del Ray, CA, will be the first event in this series. Held at the Creative Chakra Spa, the Spa Soiree will be hosted by hip hop pioneer Fab 5 Freddy and will cater to celebrated leaders within black and Hispanic communities. Guests will be pampered from head to toe with the latest holistic products, foods, and fitness techniques. Leaders in attendance will be charged with motivating members of their communities to use these natural products and techniques in preparation for Yoga Month. According to Johannes Fisslinger, President of the Yoga Health Foundation, “The Spa Soiree and other community building events are wonderful tools to empower leaders to go back to their communities and become agents of change for healthy and informed living.”
VibeHolistic Spa Soiree invited guests include: Don Cheadle, Halle Berry, Russell Simmons, Regina King, Vivica A. Fox, Laila Ali, Amos Lee, Malik Yoba, Wesley Jonathan, Dorian Harwood , Maurice Green, Bill Bellamy.
Yoga Journal, Omega Institute, and Yogaworks are just a few of the supporters on board to honor VibeHolistic’s community outreach efforts. “There is ample scientific evidence that yoga helps lower blood pressure, increases cardiovascular health, and helps people lose weight,” says Kaitlin Quistgaard, Yoga Journal’s editor in chief. “We are proud to partner with VibeHolistic to spread the power of yoga to the black and Hispanic communities.” Fab 5 Freddy also stands behind VibeHolistic and views it as, “A new movement that will change the game for those like myself who live the modern urban lifestyle. VibeHolistic and Yoga Month will show us how to enter the world of healthy, green, and holistic living.”
